This course is designed to help healthcare workers understand how to prevent infection.
This course is designed to align with the objectives for infection prevention and control level 1 as defined in the Core Skills Training Framework.
Infection prevention and control is a serious issue. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Clostridium difficile (C. difficile), Escherichia coli (E. coli), influenza and many other diseases can pass from person to person, complicating illness, prolonging hospital stays and sometimes causing death. Healthcare Associated Infections, or HCAI are becoming increasingly difficult to treat because bacteria is becoming more and more resistant to antibiotics. With proper infection control practices, however, healthcare-associated infections can be prevented.
It is vital for healthcare workers to understand how to prevent infection. All service providers have a legal responsibility to comply with the Code of Practice of the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
